All about us

We are a friendly, supportive and active kayaking club, formed in 2002 which has grown steadily and now has over 90 members. The club aims to make everyone’s experience of kayaking/canoeing a safe and enjoyable one. Whether you are brand new to the sport and looking to learn new skills, an experienced paddler wanting to improve your existing paddling skills or just looking for a group of people to paddle with, we have qualified coaches and experienced paddlers who can help you achieve this, with good company thrown in for free. We try hard to keep the range of paddling activities varied to ensure there is something to suit everyone.

Here in Pembrokeshire we are lucky to be surrounded by a wonderful variety of paddling opportunities, with some of the best sea kayaking in the UK, white water paddling a little further inland, placid water on a number of river and estuary locations and some great surf beaches.  We take advantage of this throughout the year by organising regular sessions for surfing, sea kayaking, river running etc. We also hold socials.

Trips and events are listed on the Home Page but access to details is limited to members, who are required to sign up so that the organiser knows how many to expect.  If members wish to hire club kit this is booked via the trip details when signing up.  We want everyone to paddle as often as possible so if you book a boat be sure to turn up or let the organiser know if you change your plans, so that someone else can have the boat.

During the winter the club runs swimming pool sessions to teach general kayaking skills, safety, and rolling. The sessions are organised by qualified coaches to be enjoyable and instructive so that novices can work towards qualifications, more experienced paddlers can polish their skills, and everyone has fun. There is a charge for pool sessions to cover pool hire costs.

Beginners courses generally start in March, running for 5 weeks in the swimming pool before venturing out onto open water.  Please contact us if you are interested. We have had funding from several grant sources for boats etc., so that we can lend beginners all the equipment they need to get started. Again there is a standard charge for this so that we can periodically replace the kit.

We take our responsibilities to junior members, and to each other, seriously and you will find the most important club policies and guidance published on this website. We also have a Club Welfare Officer and their contact details are on the website if you have any concerns or need advice on Welfare issues.

We hope you have a great time with the club and look forward to seeing you on the water very soon.

Happy Paddling!
